Birth Advocacy

Birth is recognised as one of the most significant life events in a woman's life, and who she selects to accompany her on that journey is crucial to her sense of wellbeing and satisfaction afterwards as she reflects on her recent birthing experience.

At Essential Birth Consulting, these concerns are well understood, and we offer a range of services to meet your unique needs.  We communicate, respect and care for our clients, who are at the centre of our focus, and all care and advice is researched and reliable - for your peace of mind.

We understand the importance of convenient appointment times to suit the woman and her partner's lifestyle, and as such appointment and meeting times are arranged at suitable and convenient times, especially weekends and evenings to ensure inclusion of family.  Consultations take about one to two hours as we address all questions and concerns.

In the intial consultation, we will discuss ways in which the service may be tailored to meet your needs.

Please note that bookings are strictly limited each month to ensure that a high quality service can be delivered to all families.  Please call 0400 418 448 to arrange a consultation as early as possible in your pregnancy.

Families are now able to pay an hourly rate for private midwifery care.

This flexible approach to payment has several advantages for families:

  • The service is more affordable
  • Payment amounts are smaller, allowing for easier budgeting
  • Families pay for what they use, need or want
  • There are lots of optional extras for families who prefer a more detailed service
  • Families are more in control of the service

Alternatively, a set fee is available for families who prefer this option.  Please contact Melissa on 0400 418 448 to discuss your options.

Fees for private midwifery may be claimed through the Net Medical Expenses Tax Offset and some Private Health funds.

The information below explains what is included in the service.  It is flexible, and some families will prefer fewer or more services to suit their needs.
