General questions > Questions about care > How do I know if I can have my baby at home?
Home birth is an option for low-risk, healthy women. There are a few things that may arise that would mean I would provide your birth care in hospital:
- Twins
- A breech baby (baby coming bottom-first, rather than head-first)
- A previous caesarean
- Pregnancy beyond 42 weeks
- Labour before 37 weeks of pregnancy
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes in pregnancy
- If there are concerns about the well-being of the baby
- There may be other reasons too
